Abstract
Background:
@EN This study was undertaken to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy and side-effects of Sulpiride versus Imipramine.
@ES Method and Sample:
@EN After 3 days of wash-out, 54 endogenous depression patients were assigned to one of two groups for 42 days of treatment. Efficacy was assessed with Hamiton Rating Scale for Depression (HRSD), Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale(BPRS) and
Montgomery
and
asbey Depression Scale (MADS). Safety was assessed by means of Treatment Emergent Symptoms (TESS). The dosage of Sulpiride were 4 mg/kg/day or 8 mg/kg/day. The dosage of Imipramine were from 50mg/day to 250 mg/day.
@ES Result:
@EN Group means of HRSD, BPRS and MADS scores decreased during the study in the two treatment groups. There were no statistically significant difference between two groups for BPRS, MADS scores and Efficiency Index of CGI. However, Sulpiride
group
showed greater reduction on HRSD at 7 days and 14 days, and had less side-effects.
@ES Conclusion:
@EN Sulpiride is an effective and well-tolerated antidepressant (AD) in hospitalized patients with endogenous depression.
